Sandra Carlino, Artistic Director of Pennsylvania Regional Ballet is pleased to announce the addition of Laszlo Berdo to the company’s ballet faculty beginning in July, 2015.
“Laszlo Berdo is a highly creative, versatile and internationally known master instructor and choreographer with over 30 years of experience in both classical and contemporary ballet,” stated Carlino. “His expertise will be a wonderful addition to our training and repertoire.”
Berdo brings more than 12 years of teaching experience, in addition to his 16 years of professional performing experience, back to Central Pennsylvania. Most recently he has been serving as the Artistic Director of Eglevsky Ballet in Bethpage, NY. In that position he not only guided the school to a significant expansion by establishing a professional school and producing a new production of The Nutcracker, but also has developed a successful outreach program – RAISE (refined arts inspire successful education), working with public schools to launch this successful 8 week in-school program.
“We feel that this is the perfect time to bring Laszlo Berdo aboard,” continued Carlino. “His passionate approach to dance instruction and his years of professional performing experience will create a fresh outlook for our organization.”
“I am excited for the opportunity to work with Sandra Carlino and Pennsylvania Regional Ballet,” stated Berdo. “PRB and I have a passion to nurture, inspire and educate students in the disciplines of ballet. I look forward to sharing my knowledge, experience and love of classical ballet with the exceptional students of PRB.”
Prior to directing Eglevsky Ballet, Mr. Berdo taught for ten years at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet in Carlisle. However, Laszlo is no stranger to Pennsylvania Regional Ballet having taught for many years in its Summer Intensive. We are excited to welcome Laszlo back beginning with the Summer Intensive for 2015.
“PRB has always been one of my favorite places to work,” continued Berdo. “The professionalism, discipline and training has always been held to a very high standard. It is clear to me that PRB cares about the health and well being of every student regardless of whether they pursue a professional career or not. I am proud to have the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing organization.”
Pennsylvania Regional Ballet continues to be one of the strongest ballet training facilities in Central Pennsylvania. Classes are offered for children ages 3-18 in ballet, pointe, modern, tap, jazz & musical theater. PRB annually produces The Nutcracker, a Spring Gala Concert featuring original repertoire, and an end of the year Summer Concert, in addition to hosting a four-week Summer Intensive Course. As an Honors Company of Regional Dance America/Northeast, PRB advanced dancers also participate in the regional festival each season, giving students multiple performing opportunities throughout the year.
